Hardships facing our community

Tribal communities face food insecurity and loss of cultural identity due to dependence on heavily processed food, ie: commodity box, convenient store foods. Accessible, nutritionally dense, cultural foods are needed to improve health and cultural preservation.

Nutritional Disparities

Reliance on commodity foods has escalated health issues, highlighting the urgent need for diet improvement, cultural food practices and revitalization

Cultural Erosion

Dependance on commodity boxes, convenient stores foods, overly processed foods has had a devastating impact on tribal culture, health and overall well being of indigenous people and communities. Food is Native Culture.

Urgent Restoration is needed

It is urgent that we build back our food systems in a way that is ecologically conscious, culturally significant and easily accessible to tribal families. Restoration of our cultural food system is self determination, cultural preservation, health and wellness for the present and future generations.
